2010/2011 off field

Here is a record of some of the off field stuff that went on during the Warriors 16th season:

Training:
The season started not with a game but with a training session: The Warriors training session which was part of Carmarthenshire's day provision had fallen victim to politics and so the season started with a training session down at People's Park. old territory for the Warriors who had used it between the demise of Stradey Park and the sessions at Parc Y Scarlets. They also played their 1st match against Asda here (14-10 victory) the ground was also the 1st home of Llanelli RFC.

The training session was a good run out and reasonably attended.

Friends Theater Donation:
The Friendship theater group held a presentation evening to present cheques to the various community groups they wished to support for the year.

Star community Awards Night:
Gwilym Lewis was nominated as Coach of the Year in the Llanelli Star Community Awards. When Lee and Billo couldn't go Gwil asked Neil to accompany him - this was poetic justice as it was Neil who had nominated Gwilym in the 1st place.

Brin Issac Awards:
Another nomination from Neil but this time not even Gwilym was able to attend, therefore it was Lee, accompanied by Billo who got the free beer, fre pen, free whiskey, listened to peter Jackson and Derek Quinell and collected the trophy on Gwilym's behalf.

Carmathenshire Sports Awards:
Gwilym's turn to make nominations and the club was short listed in the Team of the Year category. A small delegation - Killer, Tarw, Parker, Chapman, Pretty Polly, Lee and Jumpin' John went along to the Carmarthen Lyric theartre and put up with Nigel Owens crap jokes only to (deservedly) miss out to bowls pair who claimed Commonwealth Bronze for Wales

Certificate of runners up (another one, the only time the Warriors have won anything at these awards Lewi got registered as a golf player :( )

Training Sessions, Back in Barn:
The Warriors finally got a training session back off the ground but in some style with a return to the Parc Y Scarlets Barn.
An intensive hour session saw coach Gwilym Lewis actually do some coaching and by the team's next match (Bumble Barbarians) a team was selected based primarily on those who had trained.

Hosting en***sh - Bradford & Bingley Bumble Bees Barbarians Tour of Llanelli
After the demise of the Saracens Brave Herts the Warriros were only too happy to encourage a new en**ish team and for just their 4th match the Bumble team came to Llanelli to meet the Warriors at Parc Y Scarlets.
