The team in all it's glory. (Back row) Andrew Russ, Nigel Merrick, Darren Hall, Neil Edwards, Jason Jenkins, Ray Millet, John Horwood, Lee Rowlands, Conway Williams, Gary James, Dean Gilasbey, Julian Thomas, (front row) Rob Bevan, Colin Talcon, dai Spriggs, Dai Newson (Cpt), Gwilym Lewis, Chris Bonar, Edward Williams.

The Julian Thomas persuaded Burry Port company IWEC (Ian Williams Electrical Company) to donate a new set of jerseys, (this time in the Warriors prefered colours of red) shorts and socks. The socks didn't last long as they were boil washed and the tops melted very tight. Premier buses agreed to let the Warriors use their vehicles free of charge. The publicity was a welcome boost at the start of the 4th season. Llanelli RFC supplied Dave Hodges and geriant John to provide a bit of prestige. The session was held during a Warriors training session so many of the squad could not attend, however with Deano on hand through work (Good rugby boots), and some fringe members a team photo was held. It provided a rare photo of the likes of Neil Edwards, Darren Hall and Conway Willaims in the team colours. despite only playing in the 1st game, Conway contiuned to train with the Warriors passing on his experience and threatening comebacks.

Extra

The Warriors managed to get a bit of extra publicity with these press cuttings; a letter writen to the Llanelli Star at the end of the season and a small notice in the S.W. Guardian about the Betws game which was cancelled.

Presentation night 1997-98

The Warriors held their 1st ever presentation evening at the end of the 1997-98 season. It was held at Llanelli RFC's social club and was very successful. Guests included Llanelli Mayor Pam Edmunds, various sponsors, 4 current Llanelli players: Robyn McBryde, Aled Thomas, Garan Evans and Craig Warlow, former Romanian Captain Mircea Rusu (with wife Toni) and international referee Robert G. Davies. All players recived medals for 3 or more apperances whilst those who had played a full season recivied a polo shirt (presented by Garan Evans). There were 5 main categories: Top points scorer, Sportsman, Most improved Player, Players' Player and Player of the year.

Llanelli RFC outside half Craig Warlow presents Colin Talcon with the Sportsman of the year award.

Colin goes off smiling (as usual). Sportsman was awarded for attitude and approach to the game rather than on field ability and Colin was an excellent example of someone who always enjoys.

John Horwood recives the award for Most Improved Player from Carmarthenshire CC representative Ken Maynard.

David Newson takes the Players' Player which was voted for by all players who had made 3 or more apperances. Presenting it is Joanne Jones of Premier Vehicle hire.

Dai Spriggs - model rugby player (1998)

Dai Spriggs was already mad on rugby long before he made his Warriors debut. As he was beginning his rugby career with the Warriors (Debut vs Burry Port RNLI) he was already appearing in the Llanelli match programmes modeling the kit alongside Garan Evans.

Sally Stilletto Calsonic Club, March 27th 1998

The Calsonic fund raiser was a top night for all concerned. A good crowd turned out but unfortunatley one of the acts pulled out of the show leaving a large time slot to fill. Paul Martin did his crooner spot which went down well and he was followed by a bizarre version of Surfin' USA with Andrew Russ, Chris 'Karate' Davies and Mathew Perott donning grass skirts and Warriors jerseys. Kev Howelles certainly enjoyed it enough to invade the stage. Sally Stilletto gave a unique performance, rather x rated, with Warriors Captain Ray Millet getting particular attention. A short set though still left the audience facing an early finnish and wanting more. various Warriors and bus driver Winston John were press ganged into performing a full Monty striptease (some more willingly than others), Mathew's cousin was the only one to get up without a lot of prompting although Lee Rowlands was quite pleased as he had his best pants on. The crowd was suprisingly enthusiastic and there would no doubt be claims that the Warriors looked great but unfortunatley for all concerned the photos were developed....

Photo as appeared in the Star

The Warriors organised a show at the Calsonic club to raise funds. Headlined by drag queen Sally Stilletto these photos were taken in the stand at Stradey and a small article appeared in the paper. The shoot was a lot of fun even on a cold wet day with Jumpin' John especially enjoying.

Llanelli RFC along with Gilbert provided the Warriors with their 1st ever kit, a blue version of the Llanelli teams Celtic Warrior kit. A crack squad was chosen to recive the kit from Stuart Gallagher at half time during the seasons Llanelli v Caerphilly league match. The presentation was even briefly glimpsed on S4C's Y Clwb Rygbi.
